Experience:
I have been a literature lover for many years–the more I explore literature, the more I discover texts and authors that I do not yet know. Two years ago, I decided to study the MA in English Literary Studies to broaden and deepen my knowledge. At the same time, enriching my exposure to English literature would benefit the development of my teaching career.
This MA programme encompasses a wide range of literary genres and authors from classical to contemporary eras. Under the guidance of our professors, we are invited to not only remain casual readers of literature, but to explore deeper into contexts, styles and lexical choices of each text we come across. We critically analyze texts using the frameworks of literary and cultural theories which enable us to engage with literature from multiple perspectives. The MA programme has inspired me at two levels: first, it sparked my interest in literary authors and texts that were previously unfamiliar to me; second, experiencing how the professors guided us to discover details in the texts and/or invited us to share our ideas also inspired me to refine my own ways of teaching!
