Admissions Requirements

In general, applicants must meet the general requirements as defined in the most recent Graduate School brochure http://www.gs.cuhk.edu.hk/ published by The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In addition, applicants should

  1. normally possess an honours degree in English or a language-related field. Applicants with a good honours degree in subjects other than English may also be considered. All applicants must satisfy the Graduate Panel that they have an adequate standard of English and have a strong interest in Literary Studies;
  2. submit a 500-word statement of interests/goals;
  3. submit a short writing sample (1,000-1,500 words), which should be a scholarly essay written on a topic related to literature.

Applicants will be shortlisted to an interview. The interview aims to assess the applicants’ literature background, English language proficiency, and intellectual abilities.
