Given the flexibility of course option in our undergraduate programme, students might wish to consider the following course categories when deciding on courses.
- Elective Courses that provide a firm foundation in canonical English Literary Studies
- Elective Courses aligned with contemporary trends in English Literary Studies
- Elective Courses that provide a firm foundation in the field of Applied English Linguistics
- Elective Courses aligned with contemporary trends in Applied English Linguistics
Stream
Students may declare the following stream in their 2nd or 3rd year of study and complete at least 18 units of courses listed below in their choice of courses in fulfilling the major programme requirement. When the requisite coursess have been completed, the Stream will be indicated in the academic transcript and a certificate issued by the Department will be provided.
Explanatory Notes:
- Students who have completed the courses ENGE1310, 1320 and 3100 will be eligible to apply for exemption of 8 units of University Core English Language Requirement courses ELTU1001, 2011 and 3011.
Students are required to apply for the exemption. When exemption from a particular course is recognized, students can only be exempted from the course but not the units. - ENGE courses at 2000 and above level will be included in the calculation of Major GPA for honours classification.
