Working With Literature in Translation

Abstract

In this talk, I discuss my experience as a translation studies scholar whose institutional “home” is the university English department. I outline my research trajectory from graduate school to the present, highlighting both the challenges and generative possibilities that issue out of studying translation in the context of traditional English literary studies. I also discuss ongoing research on Jhumpa Lahiri’s translation memoir In Other Words / In altre parole, part of my ECS-funded project on feminist translation practice and historiography.
