The MAAEL program at CUHK not only equips me with a deep understanding of applied linguistics, but also hones my critical thinking and analytical skills, which are permanently useful for whatever career you wish to pursue. The Department and the professors are dedicated to sharing their successful tips by organizing regular research sharing and various practical workshops (e.g., academic writing in linguistics papers). The professors are very understanding, always here to listen to my concerns, and eager to solve the problems I encounter.

I gained the most out of the program in my research project. This opportunity certainly gave me a makeover in terms of research acumen. Under the arrangement of one-to-one mentorship, my supervisor provided tailored and detailed feedback on my academic writing and presentation skills so that I knew my weaknesses and, most importantly, how I could improve. It is very rare to find professors who put unleashing your learning potential as their utmost priority. Yet, I can firmly tell you they exist and they are here, the Department of English, CUHK.
