Can we predict our English learning ability from our IQ, MBTI, blood type, or zodiac?

Having a good command of English has become indispensable to be successful in academia. Although most students are striving hard to obtain high proficiency in English, it is true that some students seem to be better at learning English than others. What makes the difference? What qualities good language learners commonly have? What can predict good English learning ability? In this mini-lecture, several candidates such as IQ, MBTI, blood type, or even zodiac are examined to see if any of these is strongly related to English learning ability. This lecture will also highlight the importance of scientific approaches to studies in applied English linguistics.
