The Teaching and Learning of Modal Verbs in Mainland China: A quantitative and qualitative approach

My current project is an ongoing investigation of the teaching and learning of modal verbs in mainland China. The project will draw insights from a native-speaker corpus (BNC2014) and a Chinese learner corpus (TECCL) to inform the selection, gradation and presentation of modal verbs in textbooks used in secondary schools.
