Writers In Schools Of Hong Kong (WISH) Project
An introduction to the fundamentals of creative writing, this workshop series combines brief lectures on craft and workshop critiques. Students read selected works of prose and poetry by authors from diverse cultural backgrounds, and explore literary techniques ranging from point-of-view, narrative logic, character development and conflict in fiction, to persona, voice, diction and metaphor in poetry. There is also some discussion about how to develop a writer’s mindset.
The instructor provides personalised feedback on students’ writings, while the group engages in peer review in class. Outstanding works are selected for publication in the WISH student writing anthology series.
